Vango Odyssey Air 500 Review: A Comfortable and Spacious Camping Tent

As I unboxed my new Vango Odyssey Air 500 tent, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and relief. As a senior with arthritis, I've always struggled to set up camp on uneven ground, let alone sleep on it. But this tent has changed everything for me.

The roominess and space inside the tent are truly remarkable. My husband and I had no trouble getting settled in, even with our camping gear scattered about. We used sandbags to simulate staking, since we were on concrete, but the air beams provided a reassuring sense of stability once they were properly inflated.

I was blown away by the sturdiness of the air beams themselves - they're pocketed in a sealed sleeve within the tent, and feel incredibly solid. And don't even get me started on how easy it is to inflate them! The supplied pressure meter ensures that you avoid improper inflation, which I appreciate.

We did have some trouble getting started with the tent, as we were unsure of the best way to stake it down. However, once we figured out the process, it was a breeze. And even though we couldn't stake it to the ground (due to our concrete surface), the air beams held strong in moderate winds.

One thing I did notice is that there isn't a screen on all of the windows - just the door and ventilation panels at the bottom of the tent. But for our first outing, we didn't bother with raising the blinds, so it wasn't an issue.

Overall, I'm thrilled with my Vango Odyssey Air 500 tent. It's comfortable, spacious, and easy to set up - exactly what I needed as a senior camper. And despite some initial reservations about the staking process, I'm confident that this tent will withstand whatever Mother Nature throws our way.
